Kick Starting Local Energy Community – onboarding event

RENAISSANCE Consortium is glad to announce that the “LEF-in-EEMNES – Kick Starting Local Energy Community in Eemnes” event will take place on 28th November 2019 at the BEL Combinatie venue in Eemnes (The Netherlands).

The onboarding conference for Eemnes’ local energy community will be the first in a series of events organised by RENAISSANCE project in the four European pilot sites. It represents a unique chance for citizens and customers to get in contact with the project stakeholders.

Eemnes Pilot Site

RENAISSANCE PILOT EEMNES (2)

Eemnes is one of the largest pilots of the project, and it aims to be energy-neutral by 2030. Thanks to an exemption granted by the Dutch government, it will be able to validate a local, blockchain-enabled, peer-to-peer energy market in an operational environment.

In the context of the RENAISSANCE project and over the next three years, there will be between 100 and 200 participants in the Eemnes local energy community (LEC). The newly born LEC will consist of households, local businesses and farmers and it will include also highly energy-efficient dwellings and several municipal buildings. The ambition is to scale up to 1000 participants within the area, over a period of 10 years.

The RENAISSANCE project will support industry leaders and energy communities with an innovative suite of tools to increase the share of energy that is produced locally from renewable sources. A group of homeowners will generate their own electricity for self-consumption or to exchange it within the community. Among prosumers, blockchain technology will set and adjust the price immediately.

Event agenda

A number of stakeholders will be attending the event. Among others: Eemnes Energie, iLECO, EnergieVan and the project’s key supporter, the Municipality of Eemnes.
