Clean Energy for all Europeans package

by Maarja Meitern, Consultant, Bax & Company

The Clean Energy for All Europeans package agreement was reached by EU policymakers in December 2018. The package set out the path for EU member states to redesign energy markets. It intends to shift the traditional energy market structure by putting the consumer at the centre of the future energy system, instead of big power plants. The biggest challenge lies now in the hands of the member states, who will decide the role of citizens in the energy market.

Will future energy communities be granted a level playing field on energy markets or not?

While many of the (im)possibilities of the future European energy framework are being detailed, there are only few real-life experiments. RENAISSANCE aims to demonstrate how energy communities will provide wins for both citizens and society, reducing greenhouse emissions and grid investment costs. In this context, Bax & Co. will analyse closely how demonstrators approaches could be supported or hindered by policies.
